About ArtWalk
We help artists install exhibits inside businesses on First
through Third Street , between L Street and McLeod. To help
guide you as you explore these exhibits, we also produce tour
maps and an online gallery , so that you can be certain
to see the art that interest you the most. Additionally, the
TVAG promotes ArtWalk, so that you can make sure to be part
of this special day in downtown Livermore .
For the past six years, ArtWalk has helped to foster a sense
of community and cooperation between the businesses, artists,
and visitors who participate. It's a great excuse to tour
your favorite little store, discover overlooked treasures , and
explore the new businesses that have been popping
up all over the downtown.
You'll find artists from all ends of the spectrum— those
just beginning to exhibit and those who make a living from
their work. And, unlike traditional art festivals, we don't
insist that every piece be for sale. We want local artists
to feel free to use this opportunity to get feedback from
the community, to practice marketing themselves and showing
their work, or simply to have fun!
Of course, we'd appreciate it if you'd pay special attention
to the businesses who sponsor ArtWalk and/or host
an artist— ArtWalk wouldn't be possible without them, or
without you, for that matter! So check out our online gallery
and print a map , pick one up at our info booths,
or simply head for the heart of downtown on October 16 th
. We suggest that you park at the new garage on Railroad
(across from the Bankhead Theater) and look for the sign
markers. This is a free, rain-or-shine-event.
We hope to see you there!

Exhibiting Business Sponsors:
In order to produce ArtWalk, we rely heavily on
our sponsors. We especially appreciate it when an exhibiting
business chooses to sponsor the event, and hope you
will also:
Long-time top-level ArtWalk supporters include The
Independent , where you will find local woodturning
artist David Goosman, as well as the popular landscapes
of Bettie Goosman, contemporary impressionism from Lenore
Kriet, and the photography of Ken and Victoria Ball. Main
Street Designs again exhibits the lovely works
of LAA President Angela Johal . These are both downtown
businesses that have been our main sponsors for six years'
running. We're happy to welcome Sherri Swanson, co-owner
of Main Street Designs , to the TVAG board
this year, and truly welcome her help and insight as a
local merchant.
Country Morning , a business that has sponsored
ArtWalk since they opened their doors, will exhibit porcelain
and china painting by Tracy Lamee and ArtWalk volunteer
Catherine Houf.
At It's All About Dancing , you'll see
a variety of art from several strong artists, including the
designer of the ArtWalk print material graphics design and
longtime volunteer, Regina Stadnik.
At Thompson Gallery , the focus will be
on three strong gallery artists -- the colorful oils of Sherri
Kelcourse, the signature watercolors of Carol yn Lord, and
the contemporary impressionist work of Margaret (Peggy) Franks. Proctor's
Custom Framing will host a varied group, including
the manager of the shop, Anna Pope, who started exhibiting
again at ArtWalk last year.
At the corner of 2nd and "K", you'll find the
impressionistic works of Las Positas teacher Nancy Storch
at Armkea Custom Cabinets. El
Charro Taqueria is going to host an artist
on their patio this year. El Charro opened three years
ago on ArtWalk day to find their restaurant overwhelmed
with business, and have supported our efforts ever since.
Finally, Premier Home Theater will host the
works of Christer Norden, a Yosemite-based photographer and
jazz pianist.
New Business Exhibit Locations:
While ArtWalk's main focus is always
building and linking the arts community with
the general community, envisioning the downtown
as its own fine arts district, each ArtWalk
is unique and different from the last. This
year you can look forward to the participation
of some of the brand new businesses that have
been sprouting up all over the downtown core;
ArtWalk is a great excuse to wander through
them.
New to the area are The Firehouse Book and Bistro, Flobell's,
an upscale boutique and Cranberries, a fun new gift shop,
which will host the work of TVAG board member Katie Caulk.
Also new is Outside In, a home/garden boutique. The
owner of Outside In, Nicki Branco, showed with Vasgaard at
ArtWalk as a Las Positas College Art Student three years
ago, and helped organize the group.
Another new business joining ArtWalk and celebrating its
grand opening that day is Wild Vine, which has purchased
the Art D'Cor business and is going to create a wine bar
under the White Crane Winery ownership. They
are going to start focusing on bringing in some local art
as well.
We have three new restaurants exhibiting artists, and are
happy to see more restaurants participate in ArtWalk: Uncle
Yu's at the Vineyard , an upscale restaurant
that opened just about a year ago, will host winetasting
as well. We're excited that the new Mongolian Barbecue, Fire & Ice,
will host an artist this year.
Finally, Ancestro's— still one of the new guys on the block—will
be exhibiting for its second year in a row.
Other Art Highlights:
Please make sure to
check the fringes of the walk – we often
install strong art there in order
to entice you to make the full
walk, such as upstairs at the
Firehouse Art Studios where you'll
find some of the best in local
abstract work.
Across the street, many of the
Bothwell Art Center 's artists will
exhibit in front of the Bankhead
Theater, with a district-wide school
art exhibition inside (and high
school bands playing on Shea Homes
Pavillion in front of the theater
early in the day).
The very active and talented Las
Positas College Art Club will display
in front of Groth Bros.
Disabled Veterans will be displaying
with Bud Donaldson at the Carnegie
again this year. Also watch
for the LAA Gallery artists in the
same building, as they always put
on a good show.
Winetasting
Winetasting will occur in different
businesses throughout ArtWalk ,
including John Christopher Cellars
at Blacksmith Square, Main Street
Designs, Proctor's, Cranberries,
Wild Vine, First Street Wines, and
Art!Space. Sponsoring
wineries so far include White Crane
Winery, Page Mill Vineyards, and
Tenuta Vineyards; more will likely
be added as the time draws near.
Wente Vineyards sponsored the event
at an ArtWalk Star level, donating
$1500.00 to help produce the event,
making the musician's tent possible.
Music
Download the Music poster and start helping ArtWalk advertise!
ArtWalk is bringing the all-volunteer
acoustic event downstairs to a full
stage at the Flagpole this year,
with talent donated by a great group
of musicians. Highlights include
singer/songwriter Megan Slankard,
and Ira Leitner, a folksinger who
is again flying back from Tennessee
specifically to play the ArtWalk
event. See the music event
flyer for a full schedule.
Behind the music scene is a great
group of volunteers. Pulling
the event together is producer Duane
Gordon, sound by Don and Debbie
Pitts, coordination help by Michael
Ferrucci (owner of Fine Fretted
Friends), sound equipment donated
by the Pitts and Ferrucci, and the
excellent musicians who donate their
time to the event.
Music runs until 7pm this year,
2 hours after the art exhibit
closes, to allow the artists and
community to gather and enjoy
themselves as well.
